The
Library of Congress has financial and technical support from
corporate partners, nonprofit foundations, and individuals
to help design and launch an electronic version of certain
portions of its collections. This digital collection was placed
on a multi-user server so that the index and material could
be accessed by many simultaneously. The underlying concept
for the project was to allow the American people access to
the collections that their tax monies support.
